Worry is the sister of doubt, and doubt is the epitome of lacking faith. When we worry and fret about our needs, we are in essence showing that our faith is not in God's provisions. Is this any way for the Christian to live? Our Lord Jesus doesn't think so!
Jesus gives us the promise of God that our needs will be met by Him, for God already knows what we have need of. Do we think God is ignorant of our trouble and trudging? We would never admit as much, and yet how quickly do we hear the tender rebuke of the Lord in our ears: "Oh ye of little faith, why did you doubt?"
Beloved, God already knows about all your financial troubles and physical debasements. The Almighty has taken note of your needs. Your Master in Heaven has foreseen all of your necessities before the foundation of the world was laid. Do you think the God who spoke the universe into existence is unprepared to handle your present circumstances or are you ready to confess that God cares more for the grass in your front yard than for you?
You must trust Him, Christian!
You have been fearfully and wonderfully made by Him! You bear the image of God upon your body. He will care for you! He will. If God did not spare His own Son to bring you into His glory (see Romans 8:28), how shall He not freely care for your physical needs?
Our Lord brings us to a decision that must be made. You may either fretfully seek after worldly needs or you may seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness. I'm sure you can imagine what God desires. Therefore, let us spend our time on what is eternal, and let God care for what is temporal. Let us put off worry and fear and anxiety, and replace it with a heart full of faith in God the Provider!
