God Almighty, the center of all that is, all that was, and all that will be. Pure actuality and existence itself, boundless, infinite, and glorious…. initiates a deliberate descent into what is created, temporal, limited, finite and without glory. But this descent is not like the others we read about in the Old Testament. This time God did not descend on a mountain with smoke and fire. God did not descend as the Messenger of the LORD and or some quasi-human form to interact with mankind. This descent was a voluntary surrender; an intentional relinquishment; a deliberate self emptying, not to appear as a man, but to become a man. This is called The Kenotic Act of God, from the Greek word Kenosis used here in Philippians by Paul. Kenosis means to empty, and in this teaching we're going to learn what it was that Christ emptied Himself of.
